Piping, also known as edge trimming, is a sewing technique that uses bias-cut fabric strips (piping strips) to encase and embellish the edges of garment pieces. Based on width and shape, piping can be categorized into narrow piping, wide piping, single piping, double piping, and more. Depending on the material and color of the strips, it includes self-fabric piping (using the same material and color), contrast-material piping (same color, different fabric), and contrast-color piping. This versatile technique is widely used in garment decoration, as well as in home decor items and fashion accessories such as luggage, bags, headwear, and leather shoes.
