Veil: The veil of a sock is non elastic, and what gives the sock elasticity is the wrap. The thickness and delicacy of socks are determined by the thickness of the yarn. The commonly used yarn counts are 80, 60, 42, 40, 34, 32, 28, 21, 20, 16, 10, etc. The larger the count, the finer the yarn used. Our company commonly uses 21 and 32 count of sock gauze. Some customers choose 21 count socks used for autumn and winter,32 count socks for spring and summer。
Wrap yarn: The larger the wrap yarn number, the better the elasticity, that is, the better the elasticity of the socks. Wrap yarn is divided into nylon wrap yarn and polyester wrap yarn. The common specifications of polyester include 1575, 2075, 3075, 4075, 30150, etc. Nylon is mainly classified according to the density of fibers. Common types of nylon in socks include (40D/2, 70D/2, 100D/2). “D” refers to “Denier”, which is the unit of fiber size. The higher the “D” number, the higher the weight and thickness of the fiber. 70D/2 refers to the combination of two pieces of 70D nylon.
Elastic: Elastic is divided into spandex coated silk and nylon coated silk. The rubber thread is wrapped with nylon or polyester filament, and elastic can include 90 #, 100 #, 140 #, and 180 # according to thickness and elasticity. The larger the number, the thicker the elastic.
So a pair of pure cotton socks=Cotton Cotton+Nylon, the ratio of Veil and Wrap yarn is approximately 75% to 25% .For example, the trademark of the socks is labeled as 72% cotton, 25% nylon, and 3% elastane, so the surface yarn of the socks is pure cotton yarn, which we call pure cotton socks
